Make your own washing detergent
Have you ever looked at the list of ingredients provided on your washing detergent’s packaging? There tends to be dozens of ingredients. The aim of this article is to provide you with a recipe that contains a maximum of 5 products just as well as store-bought products to help take care of your children's skin and their clothes.
Ingredients:
• 10-20 g of “pure” Marseille soap shavings (to avoid clogging the drains)• 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate soda
• 1 empty washing detergent bottle (at least 2L)
• 10 drops of essential oil for the fragrance (optional): lemon, lavender, rosemary, grapefruit, etc.
Two preparation methods
Method 1: Use a funnel to put 7 to 8 tablespoons of Marseille soap shavings into the empty bottle, followed by the bicarbonate of soda and the drops of essential oil (if you would like to obtain a fragranced washing detergent). Add the hot water, put the lid on (for better results) and shake vigorously for a few minutes. Leave to rest overnight before use. Before each wash, shake well and/or add a small amount of hot water to dilute the solution.
Method 2: Use a saucepan to heat the water - without bringing it to the boil - and mix in the soap shavings; leave to cool for 15 minutes, then pour the solution into the bottle, add the bicarbonate of soda and if desired, the essential oil too. Allow for 100 to 150 ml per wash.
